Beef Stroganoff


This is an easy week night dinner to put together. This is a tried and true recipe in our family.

1 pound flank steak
2 tablespoons flour, divided
2/3 cup water, divided
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 (one oz) envelope onion soup mix
4 oz. can sliced mushrooms, undrained
8 oz. sour cream
Hot cooked noodles

Slice steak diagonally across grain into thin strips; dredge in 1 tablespoon flour and set aside. Combine remaining 1 tablespoon flour and 1/3 cup water; set aside. Cook steak in oil in large skillet over medium high heat 5 minutes or until browned. Add remaining 1/3 cup water, soup mix and mushrooms; cover, reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Add flour mixture to skillet; cook until thick. Stir constantly. Stir in sour cream; heat (do not boil). Serve immediately over hot noodles.
