For Christmas Eve I decided to have a fondue dinner. It was easy and lots of fun! We all laughed and enjoyed dipping food in our fondue and losing our food in the fondue! This would also be fun to have on New Year’s Eve!
Beer Cheese Fondue
1 small garlic clove
3/4 cup beer
8 oz. Swiss cheese, shredded
4 oz. sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
1 tablespoon flour
Dash bottled hot sauce
Rub the inside of a heavy saucepan with garlic clove; discard garlic. Add beer and heat slowly.
Coat cheeses in flour. Gradually add cheese to beer, stirring constantly until mixture is thickened and bubbly. Stir in hot sauce.
Transfer to a fondue pot set to low. Serve warm with dippers.
Dippers going to the left of the fondue, going clockwise are: steamed broccoli, sliced green, yellow and orange bell peppers, chunks of Italian bread, (The next thing is a plate of cookies which are not for dipping!! It is for dessert!), a bowl of little smokies and a bowl of meatballs. I also put a bottle of barbeque sauce and catsup on the table.
